Dilay Ünal pursued her education at Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, completing her Bachelor’s degree from 2009 to 2014. She then specialized in the Periodontology Department of the same institution between 2016 and 2019.
Under the guidance of Ege University Faculty of Dentistry’s Department of Periodontology, she successfully completed a specialization thesis in 2019 titled “Evaluation of Tissue Thickness in the Donor Area and the Effect of Smoking on Wound Healing After Connective Tissue Graft Removal.” Her research explored the intricacies of tissue thickness dynamics and the potential impact of smoking on wound healing following connective tissue graft removal.
She gained practical experience as a Dentist at Private Batı Diş Oral and Dental Health Polyclinic from 2014 to 2015, followed by assuming the role of a Research Assistant at Ege University Dentistry Faculty’s Department of Periodontology from 2016 to 2019.
In the field of periodontology, she possesses expertise in a wide range of clinical applications, including non-surgical periodontal treatment, soft and hard tissue procedures around teeth and implants, and essential surgical interventions for maintaining optimal oral health.
Throughout her career, she actively participated in courses and congresses to expand her knowledge. Noteworthy among these were her attendance at the Turkish Society of Periodontology (TPD) 46th Scientific Congress in 2016, the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) – Europerio 9 Congress in 2018, and contributions to the İZDO 25th and 26th International Scientific Congress and Exhibition in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
She made significant contributions through presentations, delivering a poster presentation titled “The non-surgical Treatment of Gingival Hyperplasia Induced by Calcium Channel Blocking Agent: amlodipine” at the Europerio 9 Congress in 2018 and presenting “Two Different Retention Systems for a Bar Retained Overdenture” at the ICP and EPA Joint Meeting in 2019.
